Event: 2014 UCD/Abbey Theatre Shakespeare Lectures

This year’s series features talks by Prof. Michael Dobson (Director of the Shakespeare Institute, Stratford-upon-Avon) and Prof. Anthony Roche (School of English, Drama and Film, UCD), as well as a conversation with Selina Cartmell (Artistic Director of Siren Productions, and director of King Lear at the Abbey (2013) and A Tender Thing at the Project (2014)) and Andrea Ainsworth (Voice Director at the Abbey Theatre).

9th May, UCD, 7pm:‘Shakespeare, Amateur Performance and Civic Identity in Britain and Ireland’

16th May, UCD, 7pm:‘Shakespeare: “the chap that writes like Synge”’

30th May, Abbey Theatre (Peacock), 5pm: ‘Visceral and Fearless: Staging and Speaking Shakespeare’
A Conversation with Selina Cartmell and Andrea Ainsworth

The UCD lectures take place in the Clinton Auditorium, Global Irish Institute; the Abbey event takes place in the Peacock theatre (at the Abbey). All three events are free of charge, but tickets must be booked, the UCD lectures throughwww.ucd.ie/alumni/events, the Abbey event through the Abbey box office (01) 8787 222 or www.abbeytheatre.ie.
